Case Study

Sweet Root Coffee & Art, a fictitious brand thoughtfully designed to delve into the realm of User Interface (UI) treatments for a unique coffee and art supplies subscription model.

This venture was born out of curiosity and an appreciation for the role coffee shops play in fostering community and connection. Throughout the years, cafes have been the cherished gathering places for artists, musicians, intellectuals, and close-knit groups of friends to congregate, bonding over conversations and creative endeavors fueled by a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

Recognizing the potential to augment revenue for coffee shops, the concept of a hybrid subscription service was conceived. This innovative model not only excites and engages customers but also offers a means to offset operational costs. Additionally, it paves the way for business owners to reach a broader and more diverse audience, thereby breathing new life into the traditional coffee shop experience. Sweet Root Coffee & Art embodies this vision, offering a blend of caffeinated inspiration and creative possibilities for its patrons.

The Design Process

I took time to research two of my favorite subscription services and evaluated their onboarding layouts, service, and brand promise. I love the onboarding process. It is interesting to see what companies offer and what questions they ask to better serve. In this case study, I would like to ask what if Art Snacks and Trade Coffee had a baby?

User Flow Chart

In the essence of catering to diverse tastes and preferences, Sweet Root Coffee & Art has taken a customer-centric approach by offering multiple subscription variations. Recognizing that not everyone seeks the same experience, our brand provides three distinct options:

  1. Coffee-Only Subscription: For those who are passionate about coffee and desire a steady supply of exceptional brews.

  2. Art-Only Subscription: Crafted for the artistic souls who crave a regular influx of high-quality art supplies to fuel their creative endeavors.

  3. Coffee & Art Subscription: A fusion of the best of both worlds, this option combines the joys of artisanal coffee with the inspiration of art supplies, offering a comprehensive experience that satisfies both coffee lovers and creative spirits.

Sweet Root Coffee & Art thrives on the principle of choice, ensuring that each subscriber can tailor their experience to their unique preferences, making every subscription a personalized and delightful journey.

UI Design

The importance of a strong landing page to immediately communicate the brand’s message is important to the success of audience retention. Here is my solution to an engaging page page.

Just in case the User clicks through immediately to the subscription information.

Another one of the inspirations behind the idea of marketing to artists is a built in word of mouth with an Instagram hashtag marketing strategy to promote the brand. Giving users a sense of community with art supplies + the coffee on Instagram allows for a natural and organic word of mouth marketing influencer feature. When a person subscribes they will be encouraged to post their art with a photo of their coffee.

Final Thoughts

This engaging layout and UI design shows the culture of art and coffee in unison. While this is a quick study on a fun landing page design, it would be more important for a business to work on the brand promise in the subscription service itself and offer excellence products, fast service and timely shipping. The reason I chose to blend Art Snacks and Trade Coffee in this case study is because both companies have proven the subscription model to be an outstanding reflection of their brand.
