Lessons
I am available to teach basic swing lessons to any age group at any experience
level at any location. Two-left feet? Two years dance experience in ballet?
5 years old, 50 years old, in a school, outside, or at a dance hall across the
country ---it does not matter. I am willing to go anywhere for what i love to
do.
• Beginning level dancers: learns basic dance rhythms that are very
particular to jazz and the swing era. Basics, basic turns, some variations on
turns and footwork.
• Intermediate level dancers: begins creating dance patterns and
is introduced to more complicated theory and variation. This may encompass learning
other jazz dance basics such as Charleston, to give a more purpose to a Lindyhop
basic.
• Advanced level dancers: covers topics that are particular to the
lead and follow skills both as a separate and a together units along with heavier
dance theory that will enable one to further create and break down moves that
seem complicated.
Lessons
are generally organized by PRIVATE or GROUP.
PRIVATE: for individual attention to a specific area in your dancing. One might
want to take a private lesson if he or she is extremely shy and wants to get
a head start on a dance night. Or for 90% of private lessons to focus on a "problem"
area in your dancing. If you are having trouble with a particular movement or
just want some constructive criticism.
GROUP: So a couple of you are going to compete or just want to organize a group
to push the dance scene and learn a new dance. Group is simply more than 1 couple
perferrably more than 3 couples. Group lessons are great because it is inexpensive
for 6 people to split the cost of an instructor, and all of you get the experience
of instruction that is more specific without it being too personal or critical.
DANCES: There were several different types of dance from the jazz dance era
(1900-1940's). Cakewalk, Charleston, Blackbottom, Lindyhop, Jigwalk, Tap, Shimsham,
Balboa, Collegiate Shag.
Expert in teaching: Charleston, Lindyhop, Styling Variations.
Proficent in teaching: Cakewalk, Collegiate Shag, Balboa, Various Jazz Steps.

Pricing for lessons is calculated on an hourly rate by the level of experise
of the instructor. Rates vary depending on location and other specifics. For
